Annual Meeting on 10/10 at 6:30 PM at VUHS Library

Dear Addison United families,

I (Matt Neffinger) am excited to be nominated to be the next President of Addison United SC. Formal elections and the discussion of next year’s program will take place at our Annual Meeting on October 10th at 6:30 PM at Vergennes Union High School Library. I encourage anyone who is interested to stop by and join the conversation about our club’s future.

I have three areas of focus for next season:

  1. Continue to broaden our program’s base.
  2. Increase the consistency and competitiveness of our teams.
  3. Provide more learning opportunities for coaches.

Our program has expanded 20% every year and that is a trend I will continue. Some towns are under-represented in our program and it is clear from the success of local fall recreation programs that there are lots of families who enjoy the sport. These are great opportunities for growth.

Our club philosophy is D2 (competitive) teams with an eye on a D1 (elite) when the more competitive experience would best serve player growth. I will continue to challenge our older players and look for more opportunities to nurture a commitment to the game.
The strength of our program relies heavily on the strength of our coaches. Our club will provide them with a more consistent coaching philosophy, more opportunities for learning before our season begins, and more feedback during the season.

Many of these goals will rely on future Coaching Director Chris George. I am very excited to have him join us, and have a few words from Chris to share:

A big thanks to Jen Wyman for the warm welcome. I’m excited to be a part of the Addison United family. We’ve got some new programs in the works that we know will enhance everyone’s AU experience:

– We’re rolling out a revised player development curriculum for our older teams and expanding on the curriculum for our younger teams.
– I plan on creating a new coach development program which will be the best around.
– We’re expanding our outreach to younger players with a new grassroots spring program.
I’m personally looking forward to the most fun season of my long career.
I plan on meeting with the AU players, their families and with each team, with the goal of having a clear shared vision of what this coming year at AU will look like. I’m looking forward to meeting everyone and getting to know you all.

– Chris

I hope to see everyone on October 10th at 6:30 and that you’ll join us next season!
