2018 Season Program Offerings & Tryout Schedule

Program Descriptions

We learned a lot of valuable lessons from the 2017 soccer season The Addison United Soccer Club schedule is meant to have games at our level and games above our standard.  It is important to keep this in perspective and focus on the development of your child and the team.  It is important that our Club is not only put into tournaments and leagues in which they can win but that they are challenged with tougher experiences as well. The challenge of more difficult opponents should be welcomed and encouraged.  Part of this encouragement as parents understands that the team may not always win every game, and sometimes watching the players and team improve is just as, if not more important.

After much feedback from parents, players, and coaches, AUSC will offer two program options next season. It continues to be our goal to provide more training after the fall school season through winter for those players who are seeking to develop their skills.  Therefore, we will offer the SPRING PLUS package.  And, for those players who play multiple sports and want to focus on soccer only during the spring season, we’ll  continue to offer a package much like our established program, the SPRING package. Our Coaching Directors will assess each player at our scheduled tryouts and place players on the team that best fits their skill and will foster the player’s success.  We are confident these new options will help AUSC grow our soccer community and help develop new and existing players to be more competitive in the league and tournament games.

***Note: The US Soccer Federation has put out new rules for age groups for the 2016-17 season and beyond.   Age groups will now be based on Calendar Birth Year as per the new US Soccer guidelines and adopted by the Vermont Soccer Association.

***Note: For those players who register for tryouts, a notification of team placement will be delivered to the email you provided towards the end of August.  If your player missed tryouts, they would be assessed at Pre-season Team Training on Sunday’s starting in November before the VSA D1 roster deadline 12/18/17 and D2/3 VSA roster deadline 3/5/18.  All players will be continually assessed during pre-season team training to confirm appropriate placement.  Final team placement is at the coaches discretion.

Tryout Dates for 2018 Spring Season

Tryout dates have been set for the 2018 season! While we feel that a traditional tryout structure is needed for some of the younger age groups, it is not for older age groups.

During the tryout process athletes will be evaluated according to specific criteria related to; general fitness, soccer specific skills, knowledge and understanding of the game, commitment to the team and sportsmanship, work ethic and willingness to improve in each of the other areas.

ALL players must register for tryouts at the following link. We encourage you to make all tryout dates if possible, but if you are not able, simply make a note on your registration.  Tryouts will be held at the Vergennes Union High School.
