Season Review and 2017/18 Information

Addison United Families:

As we come to end of the 2016-17 season, we want to share a few thoughts with you on the past season and the upcoming 2017-18 season.

This past year saw the team format change from school year to birth year, as well as the introduction of Club and Premier levels within our club. We instituted winter training for those seeking to continue developing their skills over the long Vermont winter and exposed our players to some of the top talent around the state and the Northeast. Despite some concerns with these changes, Addison United increased in numbers from 160 players in 2016 to 237 this year.

A few notable achievements for our teams this season:

  • U14 Boys Premier won the Green Mountain Challenge
  • U14 Girls Premier won both the Green Mountain Challenge and Essex United Tournament
  • U17 Boys Premier were finalists in the Clifton Park Soccer Classic
  • U18 Girls Premier were finalists in the Needham Memorial Day Soccer Tournament, the largest soccer tournament in North America

Overall, it was a very successful year for Addison United.

Player Development Curriculum-

We will be aligning ourselves with the US Soccer Player development curriculum and best practices guidelines. We now have a “player development pathway” for our players from U8 all the way though U18.

This is a ten year “process” that occurs as players go through Addison United.

http://www.usyouthsoccer.org/ assets/1/3/us_youth_soccer_ player_development_model.pdf

The US Soccer Curriculum provides age appropriate content and methodology guidelines for clubs that optimize player and team development at each critical age in the youth player life cycle. As a club, we are committed to this long term process.

Coaching-

We have assembled one of the best coaching staffs in the state! Six of our current coaches are Addison alumni. We are excited about this, as finding coaches is the most difficult task the board faces. Our youth is the future of our program, players and coaches, and we appreciate your patience as we look to develop these coaches and groom them for the future. We are exploring a “Senior Staff Coach Model” where our more experienced/qualified coaches will work with teams through-out the year to help develop not only our players but also mentor our newer coaches in a win-win situation for all.

Our coaches are basically volunteers and they go above and beyond and put in their personal time to ensure the best for our players so that they can maximize their soccer potential. We have significantly increased our Coaching Education budget and will continue to do so as we are committed to giving area soccer players a top notch program with top notch coaches.

Our coaching line-up for the 2017-18 season is currently being finalized and will be announced prior to try-outs.

2017-2018 Season-

For the 2017-18 season, we will be looking to introduce new aspects to our program to further enhance our player development experience. Our 2017-18 program descriptions and “try-out” dates can be found here:  http://addisonunitedvt.com/ club-and-premier-level- program-descriptions

As you look to make your decisions for the 2017-18 season, we hope that you take the above into consideration and we look forward to working with your child.

As our mission statement says ” Addison United Soccer Club’s mission is to develop the youth of Addison County by attracting and retaining dedicated youth soccer players and their families, who are committed to advancing the player’s skills and achieving personal growth through participation in recreational and competitive soccer.”

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to us.

Yours In Soccer,

Addison United Board
